- ARC number - Participants in the ARC Accredited Agency program receive an ARC number and have the authority to directly issue airline and rail tickets through a GDS.
- ASTA - American Society of Travel Agents
- DMC - Destination Management Company
- Escorted/Guided Tour Operator - Creates complete vacation itineraries including airline tickets, hotels, transportation, activities and an indvidual to guide the group throughout the experience. Typically these types of tour operators own the ground transportation vehicles.
- GDS - Global Distribution System is a network that automates transactions between suppliers and intermediaries.
- IATA - International Air Transport Association
IATA/IATAN card - The IATA/IATAN ID Card is the key to industry recognition, and is part of a worldwide program to identify travel professionals. - Intermediary - Travel agencies, Online Travel Agencies (OTAs) and aggregators.
- MICE - Meetings Incentives Conferences Exhibitions
- O&D - Origin and destination (commonly used when making a travel booking).
- Supplier - Airlines, cruise lines, destinations, hotels, tour operators, travel insurance providers and more.
- Vacation Packager - Packages airline tickets, hotels, transportation and activities to sell them to consumers. Typically vacation packagers do not own any of the components, they are a middle-man.
